About David Ahntholz
David Ahntholz is a commercial, corporate and editorial photographer based in Aliso Viejo (Orange County), California. He is available for local and travel assignments in Los Angeles, San Diego and throughout California, Arizona, and Nevada.
His photography has won awards from the National Press Photographers, Pictures of the Year International, Best of Scripps, Florida Press Club, Florida Society of News Editors, Iowa Press Photographers Association, Illinois Press Photographers Association, and design awards from the Society of News Design and Art Director's Association of Iowa.
For four-and-a-half years, David was a staff photographer at The Naples (Florida) Daily News. During his time there, he won numerous awards including runner-up Photojournalist of the Year in the National Press Photographers Best of Photojournalism Contest and first place Best Published Picture Story.
David received a master's degree in visual communication from Ohio University, where he was the 2001-02 Knight Fellow for Newsroom Graphics Management and taught desktop publishing courses. He also has been a speaker at the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar.
His photography has appeared in newspapers and magazines around the world, including Newsweek, Consumer Reports, Ebony, The New York Times, USA Today, and The Los Angeles Times. He was also a contract photographer for Rick Smolan's photo book "America At Home."
Previously, David worked as art director and assistant photo editor at The State Journal-Register in Springfield, Illinois, as a photographer for The Des Moines Register and The Daily Tribune in Ames, Iowa.
